Welcome. As a life long outdoorsman and hunter my wife Helen and I have put together this web site to educate other hunters and anyone else who is interested, that in spite of decades of being bred strictly for the show ring, many Standard Poodles still retain the hunting and retrieving instinct for which they were originally bred.
Not many hunters realize a standard poodle can be darn good in the field to say nothing of living with one in the house, where they belong, never living in an outside kennel. Two huge in house advantages are coats that don't shed and fewer problems than with most other breeds concerning members of the household who may have allergies.
Yes, they do require regular grooming, a major commitment, and it's cheaper to do it yourself. For more on that click "Breed" above.
Our Callie, above in the daffodils (DOB 7/10/06) was bred May 31st. June 1st. and June 2nd. 2011 to Woodie. See *puppies page* for his web site: info on health tests, a hunting video, hunt testing, agility, and titles.
We won't know if Callie is PG until around July 1st. when we'll do an ultra sound. I'll be shocked if she isn't. Pups ready to go by end of Sept. early Oct. 2011. Click on the Puppies page above for all the details.
You can contact Gary at 715-356-9333. This breeding should produce healthy pups with correct temperament (high prey/retrieve drive necessary for hunting) and sound conformation.
Join me as you see and read about an owner of three hunting poodles who went from "nothing but Labs" to "hooked on Poodles."
